So myself and my partner are supposed to be attending an event soon we have a hotel booked for the event, everything was booked pre-Covid and a long time before he was arrested but as a result of his bail conditions we're now worried that he won't be able to stay at the hotel? Hes spent 3 weeks trying to get hold of his contact with the police through calls, voicemails and emails but hasn't had any luck, his solicitor hasn't been able to get an answer either. So now we're stuck with what to do. The event is coming really soon and we still don't have an answer on if we can actually stay at the hotel. Has anyone had any situations like this? Solicitor has said that if we don't hear anything then to take it as a yes, good to go but I don't trust that. I'm worrying that if we go without confirmation then my partner could get charged with breaking his bail conditions?? (Condition says he must always sleep at the given address)

To be fair though that sounds like an unreasonable bail condition that should have been challenged. What if he had to be admitted to hospital, or got snowed in somewhere/had a car breakdown/stranded by public transport and couldnt get back to the stipulated address?

Having said that, if it were me I wouldnt take the risk. Someone on here recently said their partner breached their bail conditions, (I think by using a phone cleaning app that deleted their browser history) and they ended up with the police at the door and now on remand. :(

So just a little update...

my partner finally managed to get in contact with someone with the right authority and they have granted him permission to stay at the hotel!

I know we still have a really long and hard journey ahead of us but this has given us a little bit of happiness with something to now look forward to.

You did the right thing to question and check. I know at sentencing for my husband they said leading up to that date he had cooperated and complied with everything which I believe helped in him receiving a suspended sentence. Hope you have a good night at the hotel. Xx
