Hi, this is my first post here, although I have been reading for some time.

I never ever thought I would be in this situation, but we got the knock in May 2020. As it was during the first lockdown I was on furlough and at home. I didn't have a clue what was happening, but my partner admitted to the police that they would find iioc on his phone. He was taken to the station, interviewed and RUI and all of his devices were taken.

We heard nothing from the police until three weeks ago when he had to go to the station to give fingerprints and DNA. Then at the end of last week we received the charges and court summonds in the post - possession of 1000 cat c & 13 cat a. We are both devestated. The amount of images sounds huge and certainly a lot more than we were expecting. He does not remember viewing that many, although we know that is no defence. I have spent the past 20 months hoping for the best and convincing myself this would be something we could get through, now I am convinced it will be a custodial sentence and I am terrified. I am also now convinced that due to the high number of images it will be in the media. My partner has been having psychotherapy with a Stop It Now therapist the whole time and had made amazing progress. He is sickened by his actions and committed to saving our relationship. Now since receiving the charges he is so low and frightened he cannot stop crying or get out of bed.

Court is set for this week, we have had one week's notice. We have instructed a solicitor this morning who will pull the evidence. I feel so unprepared and out of my depth. Is there anything we need to do urgently this week in preparation for court? It is just a first hearing at the Magistrates Court.

Thank you

Sarah ??

Hello,

I'm sorry you find yourself here.

It's such a difficult time. It's also hard to remain positive but please try. There are many different outcomes for his sentence and there's no predicting what will happen.

Worst case scenario - My ex is now serving a custodial. Please be reassured (as much as is possible) that prison is not unsafe. The vp wings are pretty calm and he has never felt threatened or worried.

Xxx
