Hi Chelsea :)

The officers that arrested my partner told me they deal with over a 1000 a month, which made me think surely there's no room in prisons but there are space they ship them off all over the country unfortunately plus their building new prisons now aswell.
I never knew how common all this was until it actually happened to me.
hope your ok sending hugs xx

I've heard this figures a few times. I'd be interested to know the source. On the Law Pages, it shows for possession iioc (I'm guessing the most common offence) there were 125 - 50 cases last year, which is significantly less than the figure quoted above. I'm not sure if all cases are listed on the Law Pages

Most people who committ this Crim don't go to prison though I think... A large majority walk away with a suspended sentence...

I think its criminal )with so many men being convicted/in prison for this type of crime) alarm bells are not loudly ringing as to WHY? Goodness we have prisons just for sex offenders, it must cost an absolute fortune.

Those figures are frightening. Particularly the NFA ones, so many people's lives turned upside down until that NFA. There must be loads of people amongst us who have been touched by this and we would never know because most people don't talk about it. Heck, my friends would be SHOCKED if I told them everything because obviously I've continued as normal. The thing is, even if it does go away I don't think I would even tell anyone because even being wrongly associated with these types of crimes leaves doubt in peoples' minds. Thank God for this forum!

If there's a massive influx of other crimes there's inquiries right left and centre but these crimes are just swept the carpet.
It ought to be pointed out just how these crimes are growing - pointing out these men are not creepy monsters or just labelled as a pedafile. It could happen so easily to your husband, partner, brother or son etc.

Starting with pointing out the evils so easily obtained on the Internet. Gripping and distroying the weak and vulnerable. Educate and tell the truth of what's happening and why! Makes me so damn angry....

I totally agree with Smile, I detest the internet now and the damage it can do to provide a platform for engaging in something a lot of people wouldn't ordinarily be interested in.
With these figures on the rise I hope this crime carries the same level of importance to the government as much as the attention given to problem drinkers, gamblers etc which have now all been identified as mental health problems.

No Daffodil - stay on your soap box ....... does us all good to have a 'shout' out and you have lots of valid points.

They say it's like stamping on ants, on the Internet you close networks (?) then more open up, I can see that. But like you say focus on the big boys at the top to get rid of these indecent images of children so they are not there to view in the first place.

I totally agree Daffodil stay on your soapbox, I really don't think people understand and totally underestimate the devastating impact these crimes have on partners, parents, families and friends. I have always maintained the culprits at the start should be the ones to be targeted but I have been told because it is an international problem it's easier and cheap to target the likes of our partners/sons/brothers etc!!
