My son is on remand at the moment and his solicitor has just emailed to say he has a crown court date next week I am hoping this is going to be via a video link to ask for a pre sentence report how do people cope when this roller coaster nightmare starts I have not been sleeping as I've not heard from my son in a few days he normally calls me a couple times a day but I am hoping the phone lines are down as they were a few weeks ago I'm trying to hold down a professional job and smile through the pain and carry on as normal when in side I'm crumbling so sorry for ramble my head is all over the place

I'm so sorry you are going through this, I don't have any advice to provide as I'm not as far along and my circumstances are different but I just wanted to reply to let you know I'm thinking of you and how brave you are, one thing I can relate to is having to put on a face and go to work etc whilst I feel like my life and heart has been ripped to shreds and it's bloody hard! I hope the best possible outcome for your son xx

I depends on the severity of the case, my ex went straight to Crown for plea. His was communication with police decoy and he went to meet.
My son pleaded guilty at police station he went straight to magistrate court then he refused bail and sent to prison to await sentencing at crown court what I know from his solicitor he has 2 counts of one making and one distributing the phone lines were not down he was attacked and has now been moved to a different part of the prison I'm in bits at the moment

they have agreed to have a video call to crown court which makes my son feel a bit happier his solicitor has informed me this is where they will apply for pre sentence report does anyone know how long after that would we expect to be back at crown court for the sentence to be passed

Here in Scotland the statutory pre sentencing report should be completed within 28 days of the referral and the Court will set a date for sentencing as soon as possible after that. However Criminal Justice can apply for more time if necessary. My husband's sentencing was rescheduled three times over three months as the report was delayed due to the social worker's holidays, covi d and childcare problems. Very frustrating and it could have cost us several hundred pounds more in solicitor fees if our lawyer had not been so kind.
Don't forget you can send the Court reports ( e.g. from therapists) and character references too through your solicitor. Every little helps!

Oh no, so sorry to hear your son has been attacked - hope he's ok.
This would be one thing that would upset me, I continually ask if my son feels safe. I just hope he tells me the truth when he insists he's ok, we can read each other like a book and he'd know how I'd worry about this.
All I can say is I feel they are actually safer in a sex offenders establishment. Again the 'impression' by the general public, is they sit and talk about each other's perverted crimes all day. App what they are in for - is not discussed.

Another sleepless night not heard from my son since yesterday morning he calls on average 3/4 times a day thinking the worse again I think things will be easier as people say once he has been sentenced pre sentence report is being asked for next Friday then fingers crossed it will a month after that he will be sentenced then hoping to be moved to a prison where he won't live with the threat of being beaten up I walk around with my phone in my hand checking it's not on silent xxx

I have spoken to him today so feel a bit calmer I have absolute total adoration for you ladies on this site I can't explain what support I have gained from reading your posts I no longer feel alone I no longer feel this is only happening to me, when I feel scared lost and alone I come here and hand on heart it the thing that gets me through the day the thing that fills that space of emptiness, the thing where I can be me, that woman whos life has turned up side down, in the deepest darkness hours there is you guys, thank you to everyone here if only you truly realise what this lifeline means to me and many of us god bless you all xxxxx
