I am so so distraught, I've done nothing but sob for the last 3 hours. So because the judge was in a bad mood today he went well over the guidelines with sentencing and brought back charges that wer dropped and gave him 11 years :(.
He was meant to be looking at 8 maximum xx

Thankyou ladies the love and hugs are definitely needed :( he's going for an appeal which he has 28 days to do.
I can't get my head around it. It's not fair that it depends on the judges mood on the day :(

Upset mum- my fingers are crossed for you all xxx

I didn't think that they could add the charges back on but they did :( one charge wasn't even true. It was a picture on his phone of him touching my daughters leg (not in anyway sexual way shape or form) but they put it down as sexual assault, making, possessing and distributing iioc and messaging (messages he owned up to they never fount them on his phone) not arranging to meet or asking for sex or anything. He's getting a new solicitor now xx

I am so sorry for you. Sending you all the strength. That feels incredibly harsh from the charges. Was it first offence? Big hugs to you

Yep first offence aswell. The judge took no notice of everything he has done since being in prison, or the references, prison reports or nothing. He was in a really really bad mood which is out of order. Fingers crossed for the appeal aye xx

Hiya Nas.

So sorry to hear this news.

If you don't mind. What did your poor hubby do to get this ridiculous sentence.

I didn't go to the sentencing which I'm glad I didn't tbh. He said that the barrister was fighting his corner so hard but the judge just kept putting her down and telling her to be quite. His solicitor is getting an ear full of him tomorrow! I emailed him three times today and never got a reply. I've seen all the evidence because they made me "identity" the touching leg picture. I tried explaining it but they didn't want to hear it. I'm in Essex and the police here are p****s! Xx

Take care.

Yes lee that was the charge that was dropped. He run the sentence separately aswell which isn't fair so he got certain years for certain things which wer all over the guidelines. I haven't slept at all I need to see if I can get some advice from somewhere, I'm not having him spend the next 6 years in there xx

Omg that's absolutely ridiculous! I'm so sorry, how can there be such a huge difference in sentences when it comes to this?! Sending you lots of love and keeping my fingers crossed for a reduction in sentence. We don't pay our taxes to jail people like this! They want to be dealing with the real issues! Xx

I carnt help but feel they do serve occasional over the top severe sentences to send out some sort of message/deterrent - which isn't good if your one of those cases.

I'm sure whatever is put in front of these judges sometimes doesn't mean a dot! It's so unfair.....

Putting a sentence on him like that isn't going to help him at all. The same judge sentenced someone to 9 years for X2 rape offences (not a nice thing to hear) and yet has sentenced my partner to 11 and his offences are no way near anything like that. It definitely depends on the judges mood on the day which really isn't fair :(

Hi Lee, yeah he ran the sentence separately, he got a separate sentence for each category. When he added the charge back on th barrister really fault for it she said that he can't do that his reply was "I can do what I want". He was really rude to the barrister aswell. Maybe their clamping down on these offences now or he's just being a d***head (il go with the second one). I don't have much support around me tbh because a lot of my friends/family made me choose xx

I'm in shock, I'm so so sorry but this isn't right, how's he doing? Have you got speaking to him? I can't imagine how you must be feeling right now, but fight this all the way so unfair. Big hugs xx

Thankyou il have a look at them. He's ringing his solicitor this afternoon because apparently the solicitor was too "busy" to speak to him, baring in mind they've not spoken since he's been sentenced. It turns out the judge started at 13years. I swear I will go in that court myself and have it out with him! Xx

Hi Nas I'm also wondering if your partner appealed? My husband just received a custodial which nobody was expecting including his solicitor and criminal justice social worker. I'm looking for any advice on how an appeal works, time it takes, what outcome your partner had if the appeal was approved x

Hi please can you share what were the charges and what was the sentence. I am very scared of what will happen and need to start thinking of all different scenarios because all very well and good to hope for the best I just don't want to be hoping for a miracle that might be an impossible outcome. So need to manage expectations of what reality may actually be. So sorry for your situation I hope someone can help by responding to your question too. I am awaiting cps to decide on whether to charge. But expect its a long shot that they won't. As police wouldn't of sent evidence to them if they didn't think it would go forward. Its a case of I want them to take forever to decide so we can keep hoping but then want to know what outcome will be so we can move forward.
