So, we finally have the charges.

Plea hearing 19/05.

4 charges. 2 attempted communication (12 and 13 both decoys) and 2 attempting to engage in sexual activity in the presence of a child (which is attempting to video chat though both worded as though it was an attempt but calls never connected so this seems a lesser charge).

Will be talking to solicitor on what it all means.

What really shocked me was the level of detail in the charges. I wasn't expecting it. It lists some of the things hubby said in conversation (like discussing oral sex and wanting to have sex ect). This was a horrible shock. I didn't think I would see that level of detail and also didn't know the extent of the conversation to be honest.

Im prepared for custodial. But so hoping for suspended.

Smile through tears

Hi ScaredLamb /Brave you. I couldn't possibly hear the details of what my son had done, just an outline was bad enough.

Could be a case of hiding my head under the sand!

Hi Scaredlamb,

Hard information to listen to you truly are brave I never heard the full extent what the images my hubby was charged with contained. Sometimes my mind runs amok and I imagine all sorts....

Good luck at your plea hearing xx

Hi all

Thanks. Got to be brave now.

Yes the attempted for the chat is because decoys. The attempted for the engage charges I believe is because the calls never connected based on the detail in the charge sheet.

I am also my sons AA due to his Autism. I'm truly devastated and don't know where to turn. I don't know how to be with him. He is the gentlest of 23yr olds.

You are not alone ! X

Hi lovely,

Seeing the charges and also prosecution notes later down the line will always hurt but you're also steeling yourself for court so nothing is a surprise and won't shock you as much.
Your barrister and solicitor can support you here and show all the work your partner has done. Things like the fact he's been able to remain at home will be strong signs that he isn't a huge risk, so stay as positive as you can. X

Hi

it's been 11 months since the knock - the date at magistrates is 3 days past the 12 month mark

Depending on evidence really. But probably guilty plea. Just questioning the attempting to engage charges and seeing evidence before we know for sure. But probably guilty.

Hi,

I know the video calls didn't connect but they may well still push the attempt to engage charges as it was still attempted by your husband.

I know this stage is difficult, we were in it in February so it's not a distant memory for us yet!

Remember your partner has done lots of work and engaged with every relevant authority and resource made available to him, as have you. He's not the same person as he was last year when he offended, and as hard as it is to hear the charges and things that were said, remember who he is now. For me, I read the CPS summary and prosecution note but chose not to read the entire transcripts. The worst was covered within the summary notes, and I didn't need to keep going over every word and line as it doesn't change the fact that he did it.

Magistrates will be very quick, and then you'll have your crown court date and be able to work towards that. Get your paperwork in order - therapist reports, character references and letters of acknowledgement from him and any medical or relevant information too.

Keep going, nearly there now x
