Custodial and sor length

Hi,
Sorry if this sounds like a thick question but was wondering....
Say you get 3 year custodial and 10 on sor/shpo, if you served the full 3years would you only have 7 left on the sor or would it only start upon release, so you'd the full 10 from release day?

Hi
I checked this with MAPPA.
The shpo runs from the date it was handed to them (usually sentencing) so starts when they are in prison. This is because sometimes it has contact restrictions.
The SOR runs from the first signature. So usually after plea. I asked how this works if sentencing (SHPO) are a while after plea as this could be ages if pleading not guilty etc. Anyhow. They run simultaneously so even if you sign on a year before the SHPO is handed to you then the SOR will essentially reset and run alongside the SHPO.
(Edited this as I wrote in a rush then thought about it!)

Thank you for your replies.
So time between plea and sentencing is not really counted, but from sentencing essentially the clock starts ticking down on the sor and shpo no matter if you are in prison or community order or suspended?
I was just trying to understand timelines and restrictions so not a shock if we get custodial and then the clock starts on the sor/shpo once released.

Yes thats correct. They'll sign after plea but the time on the register official starts at sentencing regardless of whether its a custodial or not.
There are so many unknowns with this and so many questions which you have to search for!
