Hey ladies,

A while back there was a discussion about visor teams and I told how our offender manager had handed us over to uniform now as he was designated 'low risk'. Well unbelievably uniform do not have a grasp on offender management at all. My hubby has just had a conversation with a PC regarding a holiday we had hoped to book. Hubby was told that we weren't allowed to go because we might inadvertently come into contact with children. The example she gave was him standing in a queue for a sodding hot dog and the person behind being a child. She said if this ever happened he would be in breach of his SHPO and would be re arrested!!! OMG I was livid, contacted probation immediately who were equally as flabbergasted by this comment!! It seems we have another uphill struggle being managed by general uniform officers who lack essential training in this area of support x

Hi Lee,

Infuriating isn't it. Thankfully probation were on the ball and have contacted the PC in question to offer them some subtle education tips. We've decided not to book the holiday anyway because the last thing either of us wants is to antagonize the police. Just shows why they have specially trained visor teams to handle these cases x

Hi Smile,

Probation confirmed to you a that, as Lee says, the SHPO can't impact on everyday life. Otherwise you'd lock yourself away and never come out. I can't see what harm going into McDonalds would cause. But to be 100% certain I'd check with probation and visor xx

Unfortunately my son is in prison / but I was just curious!

How can you be expected to live life at a complete distance from children! Crazy.....

In my experience uniformed officers are not capable of doing with specific offenders for a long terms... Precisely because they're no experts in that area

Wow

And theres me thinking the Visor Team was bad, with my hub. I Hope we dont go with uniform as his probation is finishing soon.

My hub hasn't even got a SHPO and they still ask to see his phone and tell him where he can go and where he can't.

Lee

They pushing their weight around.. Its look at us where in charge and your the monster sort of thing. Things like if were to go on holiday we must only go on an adult one only etc. Don't go to the beach, we do as I like coastal walks and we don't go when the children are on school holidays. We don't have children at home now all grown, so we can go when we like sort of.

I have quite a list going ready for the next visit as they been twice now and I been in work.
