Hi, me again. It's been a hell of a few weeks.

Today we found out that the police are not going to be taking the complaint my husband made about the abuse he suffered as a child any further - because they don't think they would get a conviction.

This man hurt my hubby - a child aged 8 at the time. It also is suspected he did it to countless others. And yet they won't even investigate. Because it's been too long and "not enough potential evidence". Yet my husband speaks to a DECOY and he is facing prison. The abuse he suffered is a huge reason he even got into talking to people online and why he has the emotional range of an 8 year old.

How is this right or fair?!

It's not fair nfortunately lamb... But it's just the way it happens.

The second and third time my mum was r**ed the police did nothing... My mum went to the police 10 years after the first and not enough evidence was there... The third time was after I found out she passed, I told the police... They did nothing and won't do ..evidence is the key issue...

The solicitor I was speaking to yesterday said that the police have to prove your guilt... So without any hard evidence (IE DNA) other than your partner's story, they won't persue many sexual assualt cases...

I'm so sorry to hear this. Just hope he can get support and work through the trauma.

My husband was sexually abused when young as well and it seems a big factor in developing his internet addiction.

I saw that channel 4 documentary on rape and it seems like conviction rates for contact offences are really low. Obviously evidence has to be there but it seemed like the attitude towards victims was, at times, appalling and needs to change.

Hi

I know they need to prove guilt. I get that. It just seems so unfair doesn't it.
I'm so sorry you had to go through that lost. That sounds so awful. The system isn't fair.

I'm so sorry to hear that Scared Lamb :(

Contact offences are too heavily relied on evidence to obtain prosecution and it's a disgrace. If you go on R*** Crisis website the statistics are appauling! I really don't know what the answer is to improve it. Xx

Hi Lee

Urgh. I'm sorry to hear that especially after more coming forward. That is absolutely appalling. Makes me really angry.

Baffled. Thank you. I know it's absolutely awful but I also can't think what the answer would be. Just wish it was different.
