I've not wanted to ask the question as I'm hanging onto hope.

When my partner was talking to his legal team regarding the charge and the likely sentence they said that he was also likely to be released early on tag. He was also given a date that he'd be eligible for a tag release. However everything I seem to have read implies anyone with a SHPO wouldn't be eligible. Does anyone know anything about this?

He hasn't yet been assigned an OM for him to ask (on a side note, any ideas how long this take?)

My partner was told he did not qualify to be released on tag due to it being a sexual offence (communication offence) he has a shpo not Sure if that what makes you unable to be released or just all sexual offences are not considered but he will be released when he has served half of his sentence. Hope this helps x

Thank you - This is how I've interpreted what I've read online - Sex offenders can be released on tag if the aren't subject to any sexual offence notification requirements, which I guess is SHPO and SOR.

Out of interest I also wonder if anyone knows if they are in a Cat D prison, whether they are allowed home for visits? I read somewhere they were allowed home for X number of nights.

I don't know whether I'm staying I'd leaving, I'm seeing how things feel, it's early days but I'm wondering what other decisions along the road I might have to make - For example him being tagged at my home, allowing him to be released to my home address. The information is useful for me to mull over.

Morning Sal

Cat D allows the men to be able to leave the prison during the day but they have to return back each evening etc I know of someone currently in a CAT D but this is for a not sexual related sentance so not sure if our offenders are treated with the same rules x

Maybe speak to someone from Unlock they will probably can confirm xx

Oh I see, I haven't heard of anyone who has committed a sexual offence and isn't at least on the sor. I may be wrong but I'd say it would be quite rare so I'd assume most people would not be able to be released on tag then?

I agree Amelia, especially if it was serious enough to warrant prison.

Thanks Upset Mum, think I'll call Unlock so I have some clear information and can manage his and my expectation and give me time to consider what I may need/ want to do as he nears the end of the sentence... Which he's only just started.

Hi,

You can go to a cat d with a sexual offence and have day release etc when there.

My husband has his review for cat d next month, however there is a back log of transfers so has been told he will probably get cat d status but have to stay in a cat c prison as there would not be space before he has served his time. I'm guessing it depends on areas etc.
