Will he have to do some work?

Hi my daughters dad was sentenced to 20 months in October. I was expecting that he would have to do some kind of work related to his offending (online communication) but so far he has done nothing at all. Is this normal or will this happen when he is released?
Iv heard some people talk about a horizon course. Is this court ordered or a standard probation thing.
I guess I just feel that a bit disappointed that all he has done is sit around most of the day.

Everything in prison is extremely slow. My son has been in prison for 18 months plus and he's had no sign of any treatment programme, although a behaviour course was mentioned but never came to anything. I'm afraid there is a lot of sitting around with the tv for company..... :(
I'm sure I've read on this forum, these are put in place towards the end of a sentence or even on release. I carnt really understand this reasoning surely its best to begin to address the problem while it's fresh in your mind (?)
