SHPO & Devices
Notifications OFF
Hi Ladies,
My partner was sentenced yesterday for possession of iioc. He received a community order and a SHPO, what a relief that two years of worry is over.
A condition of the shpo is that he must inform the police of any new devices within 3 days of acquiring them. So what do we need to do now? Are the police going to come round to see which devices we have and then going forward we need to notify if we get more, or do we need to go and declare them at a police station? At the moment they have no idea which devices we have.
Also, does this condition apply to his devices only or all the devices in the house? We have devices that he uses solely, devices I use solely and then devices which we share.
No-one has really clarified this for us and I dont want to get tripped up on something so important.

Hi,
my husband has a SHPO with similar restrictions, has he met his police visor?
We have ours number and email and just send her a message with an updates and ask her advice a lot. My husband doesn't have to go to the station to notify this, but if it states in the restrictions he needs to do this you are best checking with the visor what they expect.
his visor said that any devices he has access to they have the right to check. So my phone and iPad have a password which he doesn't know and he can't access-so they don't need to be checked. But if he has used them he needs to let them know and then they have to be checked
it really is best to write down a list of questions and ask the police visor what they expect and how they interpret it. That way you can't go wrong or be tripped up. Unfortunately it seems every area and every visor does stuff a bit differently
