Hi my son is due in crown court this week to plead guilty to IIOC, we know he will then have to sign the register within 3 days, what does he do ? just walk into the station and tell the counter person he needs to sign the register or does he need to ask to speak to someone? , thanks

Heya Sadmum,

Pretty much yes he will need to do that. Walk-up to the front desk and inform them he is there to sign up to the register.

It took about an hour and a bit for my partner.

I believe they need to take a passport/ID? A d bank details I think. They ask a number of questions to register the required details, including addresses he may be at for more than seven days in a year. First set up takes a while but after that only other updates should be relatively quick e.g. Change of address.

He'll need to give them his passport details, driving licence (I think) and bank account details so I would take those with him. Details on unlock here

Not every police station allows you to do this, there is a list here

Hi!
So my hubby had to do this on Thursday last week.

What he did was wrote on his phone the following "hello, my name is xxx, I have been to court and I am now required to sign onto a interim notification with the police due to sexual offences". He was able to show this to the officer on the desk and they were able to very descretly set him up. He needed bank details, any bank and credit cards, passport, driving licence. Address details of home and anywhere he regularly stays. Details of anyone under 18 who lives there abs his relationship to them and NI number.

This took 10 mins maximum, was not scary at all and was very discrete.

Hi

Front desk. I went with my hubby and stood with him.
It was very very discrete and they were very nice. The thought of it was much worse than the reality. Xxx
