My lovely ex (being sarcastic), who knew his offence and outcome didn't arrange power or attorney to sell the house (which he knew would also happen 8 months ago). Unfortunately he didn't tell me.

The house now needs to sell and quickly....

does anyone know if estate agents contact prison direct, or how quickly power or attorney can be sorted (if required for house listing).

estate agent has never had this scenario and neither have I ....

any advice or pointers welcome. I have no contact with him so all through another party

thanks all

Hello,

I've just sold my house whilst ex is in prison.

Tell your solicitors and they can send contracts to prison for him to sign. It was very straightforward. Which bit are you stuck on currently?

Estate agents wrote to him to obtain written consent.

Good luck.

Thanks both

Unlock said it shouldn't matter, but estate agent worried about money laundering requirements (I wish ....)....

Estate agent getting something from solicitor so hopefully will be quick. More of a surprise as he said it had been sorted with power of attorney so fact it hasn't makes me a bit edgy. Hopefully that doesn't take long as it needs sold and quickly

Regarding POE it takes about 16 weeks. My person's had to sell his house and has to arrange this. He did look at whether he could do this from inside himself and it would be possible, but slower.

The fastest option for him was POE as he started it as soon as charges were given.

Thanks all.

the saga continues.

Unlock said it was straightforward

it took ages to get it listed, something to do with ID checks and passports.... Which supposedly means I now have to use his solicitors for conveyance. Bearing in mind I have received 8 letters from his solicitors and different teams I am slightly concerned,

Supposedly it is the ID that is the problem, surely a letter from prison that he is there is enough .... he agrees with the sale, but for some reason although he said it was all in place ... it really isn't

This is someone who wants me to pay him rent for living in the family home and looking after the children.... but that is another story lol
