My son told me of a chap on his wing, completely given up hope, smells unpleasant (toilet smells), is unwashed, unshaven and rumoured he has fleas. I'm suprised this is allowed to happen in prison to be honest.

I just find it so so sad that someone has just given up on life, has no hope or self worth. Just made me realise how much good you are doing if you decide to comfort and support a loved one as they serve a custodial sentence. Poor guy... upset me in a way....

Hi Smile

Ahh this is just so sad

I wonder if your son could speak to a officer just to say if someone could check in on him

As you say surly someone would notice the poor guy

Just sad xx

This is very sad.

My person says that so many people in his wing have no outside support. While I'm sure he's find a way to cope if I decides I couldn't or didn't want to support him, I do feel it's the right thing to do and I'd defend that to anyone. As said many times - and not just related to this crime), people are less likely to reoffend if they have support.

I said surely they don't just let this happen - but my son said they carnt ' force' you to up on the self care. I'm sure on a human rights level they will be keeping an eye on the poor guy.

App the toilets:showers are in a communal area -none in their cell, he said inmates have been known to just 'do it' on the floor! Sounds bonkers in this day and age doesn't it!

During time in prison my son has thankfully gathered strength, he even helps an elderly guy that struggles, but I should think without support it'd be so easy to loose grip and give up......

I know they've done wrong but I still think it's terribly sad...
