From what I understand, the process is quite hard and also seems to be one of the points in the process that bring you /them right back into the reality of what's happening and potential consequences.

It's very hard to tell from the meeting alone if anything is good or bad. You should receive a copy of the report before court - My person got is 4pm the day before. Regardless on what it says, it seems to be very varied as to whether the judge listens to their recommendations.

I don't know your story or the charges, but now is the time to start preparing for the worse outcome, however hard that might be - Hope for the best prepare for the worst.

Oh, I've just seen it's magistrates - It's quite unusual for the PSR to be done for then, I'm not sure what this means (if anything).

Magistrates often ask for a PSR before sentencing, especially for more serious crimes. I think it's just that we don't often see cases on this forum being dealt with at magistrates courts. We may start to see more now that magistrates have been given increased sentencing power - they can now sentence up to a year in jail and I suspect are under pressure to try and keep cases away from Crown Court.

Fingers crossed for you Globe Trotter xx

My oh is awaiting sentencing in magistrates in a few weeks in order for PSR to be done prior. I believe it's a chance to put everything in that he's done on himself, any positive factors and for probation to recommend a sentance x
