So I've not posted much on here, but am constantly reading all your posts & your encouragement & advice has kept me going on this awful journey we all don't want to be on!!
So my son aged 26 was arrested in January 21, for viewing IIOC & was realeased under investigation. It was such a awful day I felt like my whole world had fell apart & still do struggle terribly!! So he got the charges on the 1st April, 5 in total, viewing & distribution across all 3 categories!! We got the court date on the 28th April, for majistrates court tomorrow at 9.15am!! I've decided to go with him so I can hear what the solicitor has to say & support & help him as much as I can as I have done from the day of the knock!!!
Today I'm feeling very scared & anxious not knowing what to expect!! Can anyone give me any advice on what to do & what to expect it would be very much appreciated
Thank you in advance you amazingly strong ladies xx

Hi Sademma
So glad you found the strength to post and really sorry you find yourself here but this is such an important place for us all to offer support and advice x
My son was sentenced April and I went to court with him so I totally understand how you are feeling and how strong you are to be going
The best bit of advise I can offer is
Once in the court room find something to focus on ( I focused on the wall behind the judge so it looked like I was giving a 100% of my concentration to her as she was discussing his case etc) but honestly I was a bag of nerves
Try not to listen to much on what the prosecution are saying as they really do go for the jugular it was awful but I like you knew the whole evidence and what was right and how they portrayed him to be was so wrong
I do not condone what my son did for one second but I know the truth
I send you lots of strength and hugs for tomorrow, take a deep breath as you go in you have got this honestly and at least you will know the next stage of this journey what you and your son have to deal with
Tell you son he will be ok he will get through this and he has you by his side that is the most important part
Everything x for you both and will be thinking of you
Please keep us updated xx

Thank you for your reply Upset Mum
Tomorrow it's just magistrates court so as far as I know it's just a plea hearing & hopefully we will get a date for sentencing at Crown court & hope we don't have to wait too much longer!!

Hi Sademma
For the plea hearing it should take about 20 mins then a date will be set for sentencing in about 4 - 6 weeks xx

I hope tomorrow goes as well as it can and you continue to be incredibly strong.
So, am I right in thinking that there will still be a prosecutor in Crown Court even if someone pleads guilty? Who is the prosecutor - is it the same person as the investigator?

Hi Sademma, we were expecting to be there half an hour max but solicitor was querying the evidence and we were there hours!
prosecuter was someone in court who read out the charges and worst descriptions of the iioc and ages which I was totally not prepared for! He pleaded guilty, then the solicitor who was excellent, told them about the work he'd done and what he'd already lost and asked them to consider sentencing back at magistrates rather than crown which they accepted. Date given for 4 weeks later so there was time to get a PSR done.
we got a horrible glare off the judge as we went in and sat down, we didn't know we had to stand until we were told to sit down!
thankfully no media in the court and solicitor told oh to not hide his face outside as it looked suspicious if there was a camera and just to walk out calmly and separately.
good luck x
