So I went to majistrates court with my son last Tuesday & he pleaded guilty for 5 charges of viewing & distributing iioc. We spoke to his barrister for a while before we went in & he said we are looking at a 3 year custodial sentence & as he pleaded guilty it takes it down to 2 years & the best he can try to get is a suspended sentence. So basically we have to prepare ourselves for a custodial sentence, I feel like my whole world has fell apart again just like I did on the day of the knock 18 months ago!!!

Don't know where to start & what to do feel so helpless!! He also signed onto the SOR on Friday. Up to now he hasn't told his employer, does he have to tell them? He works for a large kitchen company & is a kitchen designer.

He is meeting up with a probation officer soon to do a PSR, anything I can do to help with that?

Any advice would be greatly received as I'm going out of my mind with loads of questions in my head

thank you

Hello Emma,

I haven't got any answers for you because I'm only 5 months into this myself, but I just wanted to send you lots of love and strength from one Mum to another xxxx you are so brave and so strong. I hope your son has managed to access some help for himself and I'm hoping for the best possible outcome for him.

Big love xxxx

One bit of advise I have seen on here that I will do for my son is to write a character reference.

If you pop character reference into the search bar then lots comes up xxx

Hi Sademma.

I suggest you concentrate on the financial side ie phone contracts, direct debits, freezing cards etc. When my son went in prison I was left to deal with it and it was stressful plus having to explain it all over and over again.

As regards work my son carried on right to the bitter end / that was hard on him but he was earning money.

Don't fret too much about prison - he will be classed as vulnerable, so he'll be safe. I had visions of my son being beaten & bullied but it's nothing like that. They have a duty of care and the officers are ok with you - if you are ok with them!

It's easy for them to phone/write, I believe e Mail and visiting is straight forward. Transferring money into their account is easy too.

heres hoping it doesn't come to all this - I send you love and strength x
