Dear Forum Users,

We appreciate that you share your experiences and knowledge on the forum. Although this forum is a good source of gaining knowledge, we know that there is limited research on the impact of online sexual offending behaviour on partners, parents, other family members, and friends of the offender. Therefore, we hope you will find it useful to know about two interesting pieces of research that we are looking for you to take part in. Both studies are separate from one another and are part of two students’ MSc dissertations. The dissertations involve taking part in individual interviews, which will be kept confidential where the researcher will have sole access to your information. Please note that participation is entirely voluntary, but would be greatly appreciated. If you are interested, then you can read more information about both studies below including how to take part.

The first study aims to understand the experiences and impacts that a sexual offence and conviction has on the family member or partner. Interviews will end by 31st July 2022. You can follow the link to this study here:

The second study aims to explore the experiences of parents of an individual registered as a sex offender. Data collection for this study will end on 21st July 2022. You will find the link to this study here:

Thank you in advance for your participation!

Take care,

Lucy

Evening

I have put myself forward to assist in both studys

The more discussion around this will be really helpful I believe

Especially as a mum of an offender

Im not sure I'm valid for the first (definitely not the second one). I know I'm an odd one for meeting my partner whilst under investigation... hopefully I can be of some help.

Hi, I totally agree that these offences need researching and there needs to be more understanding of the how's, why's and wherefores. The general public and media can gain knowledge and understanding of this widespread problem and, ultimately people who carry out the crimes can live some sort of normal life and carry on life after the events without feeling like scourge of humanity xx

If anyone is thinking I want to do this but I cant honestly take a leap of faith

To be able to provide information on this horrendous journey and to talk to someone outside of this has been an eye opener

The meeting was about us the support mechanism how it has impacted us

But for me to talk to a level headed female adult that has not had dealings with sex offenders but wants to to understand is so important

You really impacted me Zoe , you listened and were non judgemental and the most important part was you cared so thank you x
