When I was a young soldier in the 80s serving in Northern Ireland to get a terrorist conviction was so very difficult due to getting and keeping evidence and when we thought when had it all it was thrown out of court because something that you haven't even thought of was incorrect...now alot of my friends became poilce officers OK nearly all are not serving now but they all said all the police were interested in was a conviction mostly since the introduction of targets in the 90s mostly.....I understand the shock and awe of the knock that's the idea of it ...but please please please question eveything every bit of evidence needs to be questiioned....the police want everyone to lay down and admit to eveything it makes ther life so much easier and makes them look good for the next promotion but trust me evidence and proving it a key and it's harder to prove than most people think ......please question eveything and yes I know its hard .....like I keep saying the police want a conviction no matter what but they always need hard evidence that's how the law of the land works and it has to be proven beyond all reasonable doubt...and yes I'm fully aware of how hard you ladies are workings.
This is a fantastic forum...and I wish and hope for the best for everyone.
Thank you
Thank you
That is so scary Rick - no wonder the prisons are filling up with these type of offenders...
My son must have been like a lamb to the slaughter....

Your so right smile through tears it's very scary that's the way the police work nowadays it's all about targets and them looking good...like daffodil says in the old days most first offences would get a slap on the wrist or a caution but that's doesn't show on the targets or on a police officers yearly appraisal so that's no good anymore...your so right no wonder the prison are full and the court's overwelmed with cases it's all about the targets nothing more ...one single image will most probably be enough to get you in court these days ....yes OK it's illegal having one image but getting your collar felt would normally be enough to make people realise its wrong and not to do it again..not nowadays if the cps think they can get a prosecution it's off to court they go .....more numbers on the targets.
My son did deserve punishment and I'm sure a slap on the wrist plus restrictions in place, with a support programme (hence my thread on this) would (I pray) guide him to never go down this road again.
Will never condone his actions but - It breaks my heart to think what it has done to a good, kind and caring person that's made one hell of a mistake.

I have been told by police something that my husband categorically denies. It's so tough because I'm struggling to trust him at the moment. When he explained how illogical and logistically difficult what they claim would be it makes me wonder who is telling the truth. Part of me wants to question the lead police officer but at the moment I have a good relationship with him and the section 47 is in progress so I don't want to seem uncooperative. I think that I will put it my book of things to question and get husband to call his solicitor.

He has been been arrested for iioc but he has been in talking to like minded people. No contact offending.
Ladies it's all about the evidence...yes OK I understand if someone has done something wrong then they should face the consequences...but if the police don't have the evidence on the table then they can't convict it really is how the law works ....no hard evidence then no charges...I've said it so many times it Has to be proven beyond all reasonable doubt that's what a Magistrates or a jury have to conclude...its not easy to convict if you can put any sort of dought in the judges mind ... admit to nothing the police won't admit to anything so why make anything easy for them..they won't make it easy for anyone else ....its a game of cat and mouse.
In these cases, I'm not sure "beyond reasonable date" would ever be taken as it should be by a jury. It's the sort of crime that if there is enough evidence to even remotely associate you with an activity you'd be considered guilty by a jury even before they heard any evidence for or against.
Yes if the evidence is clear cut and it's bang to rights evidence then it's all ready proven beyond reasonable doubt...but if its not clear cut like alot of the cases on here are not so clear cut then it has to be proven beyond all reasonable doubt.
