We have a plea hearing tomorrow for 19 year old.

The knock came last October and device's seized but no arrest. A voluntary interview in April when it was disclosed less than 100 images Cat A,B and C were found. Now we have a plea hearing tomorrow and he doesn't want a solicitor its straight at crown court and I am out of my mind I have written a character reference but what do we do?

He needs a solicitor. Why doesn't he want one? Assuming he's pleading guilty? Why is it crown and not magistrates for plea? X

I've actually got it wrong it's majestrates not crown. The panic that the letter came 6 days ago and the team who have investigated off until Wednesday (spoke with someone else who confirmed plea hearing at majistrates).

So never any arrest made only a voluntary interview and like I said paperwork is for less than 100 images.

He said he needs to face his own punishment not try and get himself out of it

Having a solicitor is not a way to get away with anything. It is to ensure that the sentence is fair. The courts and police are not perfect. In fact I hear a lot of stories where they get it wrong, my partner for example the courts were given the wrong details of where he lived and the charges quoted the wrong date of arrest. May seem minor but little things like that could add up to an incorrect judgement.

Has he had no legal rep when in an interview? I would suggest that he rings the Lucy faithful helpline to chat about the benefits and purpose of legal representation. It sou ds like he may not be too informed and would benefit from some clarification

Sentence can take a month from plea hearing so he has time to get legal involved

I am going to seek advice from the solicitors that will be at the court tomorrow.

Has anyone had an experience similar and had an outcome?

Hi

19 year old , your son? "Needs to face his own punishment" "l will accept the consequences" sounds like my son. Didn't reach court , received a caution . He never talks about it but its still at the forefront of my mind .

hope the outcome is good

He needs to sign the SOR and will be in crown court in 4-6 weeks. Will meet with probation to get their input.

We had a duty solicitor to help with his plea in the end and she said going to crown was a better option than sentencing today.

Thank you for the nice comments
