Please - can anyone help? I have tried Direct Line , LV, Churchill amongst others to try and find a company to insure our car now that my person has a criminal conviction. All of these companies ask for non motoring convictions to be disclosed.
May I ask which companies people on this forum people are using ? The Unlock webpage seems very out of date. Thank you for your help x

My son is insured with Admiral, he disclosed his conviction but there was no problem him getting insurance.
I renewed mine a couple of months ago and had to swerve when asked about pending non-motoring convictions. I went through Direct Line website and wasn't asked at all - they were also cheaper than the comparison websites so that was a bonus! Xx
I should've checked LV too! I will next time, thanks Lee, I remembered you'd mentioned Direct Line which is what made me go in the first place so I owe you a drink for my savings :) xx
Thank you everyone. We are with Direct Line just now but the policy wording is - no convictions/ claims ... but it doesn't specifically say no motoring convictions which makes me think I should declare this. Has anyone actually been able to ask Direct Line? Thank you in advance for any help ! X
And I forgot to say we went through their website and not on a comparison site..
I can't remember which insurance company (1st central?) it was but there was one that when online it didn't ask about non-driving convictions, but I tried to ask questions on the possible policy over the phone before committing and was thrown off by being directly asked about convictions. I asked if they meant motor related and they said no it had to be any.
I told them that that question was not worded as such online but they argued it did (I checked and definitely was not black and white clear they many any convictions).
I didn't risk it and moved on. But has made me wry since. With admiral and so far so good. And as stated go directly to insurance companies. It might be the wording may change on some renewals so make sure to check the wording each time.

Please check the small.print. Just because they haven't asked doesn't mean there isn't something in their terms and conditions..
I know this is an old thread but need advice. Just got my renewal from LV and they have asked for non motoring unspent convictions and asked for details if anyone i live with has unspent convictions. So even if i remove my husband from my insurance, i am still going to have to declare his conviction.
can anyone say if they have had to declare a conviction when they are not on the insurance? If so what happened and who is was with?
anyone got advice from a recent quote. Thanks

It's the gift that keeps on giving isn't it. I had this problem with home insurance, even though my partner is still awaiting court, but many of the insurance companies ask if any one has convictions or is "under investigation by pokice" . I found a company who didn't ask about under investigation, but it cost me £80 more.
My house insurance was over £200 more for a lot less cover. Thought i was ok with LV for my and husbands car. Been with them for years, never had any problems with them. I do not know why they say anyone living with you. I could easily take my husband off my car insurance as he hardly drives my car. Admiral is only interested in the driver and anyone else named which is understandable. Been spending the evening reading terms and conditions of all the insurance companies, so light reading!
Churchill is looking good at the moment.
