Probation officer and communication with outside world

Does anyone have experience with a PO being assigned pre release from custody? He has his assigned and first meeting this week. As that side of things moves forwards I am keen to take more distance due to my own situation with work.
How much will they communicate with the outside world based on what he tells them?
Sorry if my question is unclear, don't want to go into detail, am hoping those of you who know my story may pick up on what I'm asking here!
