Hi all, this is my first post. I have found the forum really helpful, it's been the only place I can find any sort of information about what to expect.

I'm based in Ireland and have found dealing with Tusla (Irish social services) difficult.

It has been 5 years since the knock and sentencing will be soon (things move at a glacial pace here)

We have 2 small kids.

We were initially very cooperative with SS (maybe too much so) with the hopes that this would mean something. However, we were then told that in these situations they never allow unsupervised access.

My husband was charged with possession of 12 images of older female children (our 2 are small boys)

Just wondering if anyone has experience of trying to get unsupervised access?

I feel like our kids will be affected in so many negative ways by what their dad has done, the least we can do is try and have as "normal" a family life as possible

Hi Lee, thank you for replying!

Yes it's such an awfully long time.

I think it's the same here in terms of it being voluntary but I would really love to have it sorted once and for all with them.

There isn't an SHPO in Ireland, I think the closest thing to it is a sex offender order (see this link https://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/justice/criminal_law/criminal_trial/sex_offenders_register.html) I think this is only applied for by the police if they've a particular concern. I think the judge can also sometimes apply certain conditions when sentencing.

His only bail condition is to sign on every week at the police station. When he pled guilty he was placed on the sex offenders register but we don't know for how long until he is sentenced. We have been told he will most likely get a suspended sentence, that would mean 5 years on the SOR. (in my opinion they should back date it considering how long the case has gone on!)

I guess I need to persist with SS and not just agree to whatever they want. I guess from their point of view, they don't want to accept any risk.

Hi, bit of a delay, but have you come across https://theknock.club/. I know they have team members in Ireland who may be able to offer some help. Best of luck.
