Hello Everyone,
You may not be aware of all of the services we provide here at LFF for you and your loved ones. Below is some information regarding the different programmes that we run, designed to provide support and information for all those who are perhaps struggling and would like our help.
Inform – this is our programme for partners, relatives and friends of anyone who has offended online. Run by specialist staff, Inform provides a safe, supportive and confidential space in which people can discuss the emotional and practical impact of internet offending, and begin to understand more about online offending behaviours. The Inform group runs over five weeks with each session lasting around two hours, although it can also be completed on a one to one basis. You can find out more information about the Inform programme via the Stop It Now! helpline, our online chat service, or on the The Lucy Faithfull website via this link: https://www.lucyfaithfull.org.uk/files/Inform_Leaflet_2017.pdf
Inform Plus – this is our psycho-educational programme for men who are under investigation for, or have been arrested, cautioned or convicted of accessing sexual images of children online. The programme provides an opportunity for men to explore and understand their offending behaviour in a structured but supportive environment and to work out strategies for avoiding future internet offending. This ten-week course is for groups of 6-10 individuals, with each session lasting around two and a half hours. The programme can also be completed on a one to one basis. At the end of the programme, group members will receive a completion letter that confirms their attendance and outlines the programme content. You can find out more information about the Inform Plus programme via the Stop It Now! helpline, our online chat service, or on the The Lucy Faithfull website via this link: https://www.lucyfaithfull.org.uk/help-to-stop-offending-online.htm
Engage Plus – this is our programme for men who are under investigation for, or have been arrested, cautioned or convicted of engaging in online sexual conversations with children. Is there any funded places for inform plus, we can't afford £700?
Thanks Lee!
Dear Jayjay and all
There are other organisations which provide programmes for individuals in these circumstances too. For our programmes, please do not let finances be barrier to accessing our services as we are sometimes able to support with the cost of the programme. This can be discussed with a practitioner at a face-to-face appointment once expressing interest in completing the programme. If you would like to discuss any of this further then please do contact us on our helpline on 0808 1000 900.
Take care,

Just received a call with an appt but I'm concerned as lady said she would deal directly with the investigating officer and report to the officer the content of the appt - I thought these initial 1:1 appts and the group ones were confidential so that attendees could talk openly
Dear Head and Spin,
Thank you for your comment. I think it’s a really important one and I’m sure other people have queried this also.
Prior to supporting individuals face to face (or via Zoom) who have committed offences, we always take the contact details of a criminal justice-based professional who is linked to them. In the majority of cases this professional is an investigating officer, but for others who are further through the criminal justice route this could be a probation officer or a police offender manager. There are three reasons we take these details:
(1) To explore whether the professional has any concerns about the individual that we need to be aware of and may not know about (e.g. previous suicide attempts, poor mental health, aggression upon police apprehension).
(2) If a client doesn’t turn up to an appointment as expected, we cannot reach them by phone and we are concerned for their welfare, we can easily ask an officer who knows about their situation to check in on them.
(3) If a client discloses new offences during sessions that the police are unaware of (e.g. contact offences when they are being investigated for internet offences, or that they have been viewing illegal images since their devices have been apprehended) then our confidentiality policy states that we need to pass this. We make our confidentiality policy clear at various stages of process, including when someone first calls the helpline and when someone first starts face-to-face.
Whilst we inform officers that an individual is having an initial appointment, with the intention of completing one of our programmes, we never disclose specific information about the individual (i.e. what they’ve said during calls or sessions) because their contact with us is confidential; of course, unless any of the above points apply. From our experience, officers are usually really pleased to know that these individuals have reached out for help.
For family members and partners wanting to complete Inform, we do not take down any professional contact details.
I hope this clarifies things for you, but please do ask if you have any further questions or concerns.
Take care, Lucy

Is the inform plus only targeted at those with a sexual attraction to children or would it be beneficial for a vulnerable young adult who has been groomed into committing online crime for the benefit of others but who has no interest in the images himself?
I am aiming to teach him the seriousness of this behaviour and understand the harm it causes.
Also is this course able to accommodate someone with additional needs?

Hello Blue Sky
It is a requirement for cameras to be switched on, this is to ensure facilitators can safeguard all partisipants during the programme. The posibility for 1:1 work can be explored if this is something that would make you feel more comfortable. You are welcome to contact the helpline to have a discussion further around this with no obligation to sign up.
I hope this helps.
