Does anyone know who holds prison visitor records? My understanding is that it would only be the prison and that this information (ie, names/details of people who have visited a prisoner) cannot be requested by other agencies? Same for their call logs?

Would police services hold this information/could they ask for it? Am getting increasingly paranoid in terms of my next DBS, even though I'm not in a relationship with my partner (although on paper we are still married), I have visited on occasion and am worried in case this is somehow flagged on the enhanced dbs.

It seems like it wouldn't be, but in our situation, anxiety springs from the smallest thing!

Hey Lizzie - hopefully someone will know the answer to your questions.

I just wanted to say I hope you're doing OK apart from your DBS anxiety. I totally understand your worry.. I feel worried about it too.

I would of thought that prison visitor records aren't of any interest to the DBS people - it would surely be the personal circumstances eg, if people are living together.

I have an enhanced DBS too and it worries me for the future of my career (that I've worked flipping hard for!!!!!) that it will come up.

It's extremely unfair that we have to carry this burden as innocent people.x

Thanks Daffodil, have just had such a rough journey through the whole association thing, I worry about what I know is silly really. Just so hard not to feel paranoid.

You need an enhanced DBS for each role that you hold that requires one - for example a job and a volunteering role would each need their own DBS.

As Daffodil says it used to be yearly, however the rules have changed if you have an on going role. Instead of renewing, you are bound and expected to disclose any relevant information to the organisation the DBS is for.

For example; I have held my current E DBS for a number of years because I have stayed in the same job. I had to make a disclosure of my situation to my employer. If I hadn't of done this I would be in breach of contract and of the E DBS rules.

Basically - instead of getting a new one every year its upto you and your responsibility to make sure its in check... unless you get a new role and need a new DBS. X

Hi Busy - | I've thought about this in the past. I'm in a difficult family situation - and wonder will talking to my son (in prison) most days be a problem in the future. In theory I've deserted him and in reality far from it!
