Hi

I am trying to find out when my son will have to register again under SOR, he was first asked to sign after magistrates court in oct 20 but was than given a custidol sentence at crown court and had to sign again on his release in march 22,does the time start from when he first registered or after his release, does he need to sign again this ocotober or next march.I do not want him to get into anymore trouble if he missed the deadline to sign.

Hi,

I'm fairly certain it will be in March. His visor will be able to tell him and I think they remind them of the window of time that this needs to be done in. From memory they can do it within a 5 day window before and inclusive of the date they last signed it xx

It is 12 months from the last date that the form was signed. So, if for example, he received a new bank card and registered that, then it would be 12 months from that date. It isn't, and has never been 'annual registration'

Notifying of foreign travel does not reset the date, as it is a different form.

There is no 5 day window, not sure where Distressed got that idea from. You can resign early for any number of reasons. However if you are more than 1 year since the last signed date then you have breached notification requirements and could find yourself back in court.

If ever in doubt, contact the offender manager, because they do seem to all have their own interpretation of things. There's also some more info here on unlock https://unlock.org.uk/advice/information-sex-offence-notification-requirements/

Ah ok, that was what my persons offender manager said to him. His was the 8th and she told him to go any day from the 3rd to the 8th. Thanks for clarifying xx

Not leaving it until the last day is definitely a good idea. You never know what you could happen that means the deadline gets missed. That's probably why they were suggesting to do it a few days before.
