Holistic Health Check
Notifications OFF
I was having a lovely day out with my mum yesterday and had a phone call to remind me of the sh!t storm that life is at the moment.
The school called to say that the school nurses will be going to the school to carry out an "holistic health check" on my 2 little ones. The big one goes to college so I don't know if the same will happen there.
It completely floored me..... again.
I hate the intrusion on my children's lives. This is surely a reflection on my parenting not just my OH.
The school have said that I can't be there. Why? They are my babies, the thought of all this going on without me there to reassure them gives me knots in my stomach.
I'm guessing that this will go no way in reducing the 4 year wait that my son will have for his ASD assessment with CAMHs.

Are you on a CIN or CPP?
I'm on a CPP. I don't remember it being mentioned and it's not on the plan that I have recieved. I've decided that I will be at the school when they arrive. It 9:30 Monday morning so I don't have time to speak to anyone.
The first I heard of it was the phone call yesterday.

The only thing I can see on my LA website is relating to. "Child Protection Medical Guidance for Medical professionals, Childrens services and Police."
It states that a person with parental responsibility has to give consent. I don't want to be seen as being obstructive, so I'm not going to stop it being done, but i am going to ask for it to be done away from school and in my presence. I just worry that the kids will wonder why they have been singled out for a check when no-one else in there class has. They've already had some much upheaval, I don't want them to have more cause for questions and worry.

Thank you ladies for all your support.
I went to the school and spoke to the Head teacher first thing. We agreed that they would tell my children that the school nurses are catching up on children who were not at school for her last visit. My kiddies accepted this and haven't even mentioned that they had seen her.
I also spoke to the nurse before she saw them so that she was aware of what my children think about our current family dynamics. During the conversation she said that I had agreed to this during the ICPC, I don't remember this but most of that day is a blur to me. She then told me that after seeing my little 2 she would be going to college to see my 17 year old. I told her in no uncertain term that would not be happening. My daughter has ASD and does not cope with spontaneity so we have agreed that the visit can happen on Wed in order that my girl can be prepared.
So after the health check it transpires that my children are healthy, happy, well rounded children. ?? that box!
And with all this "support" that all these people are giving, not one professional can help get my son assessed by CAMHs any sooner that the estimated 4 yrs we have been told.
