Hi,

We are a year and a half after the knock and still really no further forward. Just trying to gather some more information. Will the police have already looked at the devices they took away and found something and are moving things along or could it be they haven't found anything yet? Sorry, I know this seems a silly question but recently I feel that I'm in shock again and feeling the horror of those first few weeks.

Hi Rachel,

Have you contacted your OIC? I'm afraid they are the only person who would know. In our case - we are just over a year, I know the devices have been searched and have been outsourced to forensic specialists for some time as they are having difficulty retrieving data. Contacting your OIC will not impact the process but it may give you some peace of mind. X

Hi,

Thank you for the replies. The solicitor had advised not to liaise with them directly and go through them but all they keep saying is to wait. Hope you are doing ok and thank you for taking time to reply xx

Hi Lee,

thank you for your response. Sometimes I feel the solicitor is doing nothing however, guess got to accept it's a waiting game. Thank you.

Are you paying your solicitor?

If its legal aid based then until charges are made they aren't doing anything much for you other than communication with the police and keeping a file open.

We are legal aid (hopefully) and our solicitor is happy to deal with bail stuff and accept documents for his file, answer a query but that's about it right now. X

We are paying for the solicitor not Legal aid. This is the strange bit. The police came to the house when nobody was in (we don't have any kids which is probably best) and they entered the house without either one of us there as we were both at work . They took an IPad and left a note to call. When my husband called they told him he was under investigation and to wait to hear from them. He has never been arrested, charged or invited in for an interview and they never asked for any other devices such as his phone. Thank you for your reply

they used some sort of tool to open the door as it left a mark on the door. The solicitor has advised that apparently they are allowed to do this. We haven't had any answers to why they did this. They left other devices in the house and have never asked for them. I feel that this is very usual compared to all the other stories here. The last communication we had with the police was when he called them and then we immediately appointed a solicitor who has had very limited response.

We were shocked too. It made my feel really very unsafe in my own home. Thank you for your help.

I emailed the OIC in charge, kept it brief and straight to the point. Told them my life was on hold and would appreciate making us priority, we were done and dusted in under a year.
I would seek clarity from solicitor regarding entering your home without you knowing, if they had a warrant, any damage and why hasn't he been questioned ? X
