What happens after conviction

Hi,
just wondering if someone could give some information please on what happens after comviction but he doesn't go to jail. The solicitor has advised that he will have some sort of person appointed to advise him but we have no idea about this part of the process. Thank you.

Also to add to the above. Depending on the sentence might have community service order. My partner had 200 hours to complete over his suspended sentence (2 years).
After a suspended sentence an offender is managed by the police officer assigned to the offender.
Also probation do an annual report on the risk of reoffending. First report should e done in the first few months while on probation.
I have also seen some people have curfews or tags for a short while.
