Hi Everyone,

Quick update, I applied for an enhanced DBS due to getting a job in a children's nursery. DBS came back with additional information stating husband's convictions (iioc) once HR were advised no longer allowed to continue employment.

I put in a dispute with DBS stating that as the convictions didnt apply to me, my record is clean. Why am i being associated with my husband's crimes. Stated that this information has led me to lose a job and will affect me getting employment in certain areas, ones that prior to this have never had any issues with.

The chief of police responded to this and will not change his decision, he states that as we are still married and living in the same house my husband COULD gain access to children. And he states that he doesn't feel that it will affect me getting a job in the future, as companies know the DBS procedure and safeguarding so will take that all into account .

Who is he actually kidding......

I have now taken it to an independent monitor, and rang a solicitor this afternoon for some advice. Waiting for the solicitor to come back to me.

This really worries me. I'm about to start uni to become a mental health nurse and waiting for my enhance DBS to come back. I'm guessing I will never be able to work in Child and Adolescent Mental Health.

Thank you Lee and yes it is disgusting, However I feel this isn't going to change for my case. Someone in a position that doesn't know me or my husband, who is just going by his case notes can make a decision that ultimately changes MY life and my career.

My husband has been deemed low risk, has just finished his probation, attends SAA meetings once a week, is doing everything to stay strong and yet this happens to ME.

It sometimes makes me wonder if the powers that be really want families to stay together, because christ they make it f'ing hard...
