Hi all.

I've been a lurker for the past two years. Sentencing of my sibling is coming up in a few weeks. It's been such a rollercoaster.

I wanted to say thank you for being honestly, the only source of information on this topic that's been correct and consistent. It's such a difficult subject to find any information or support on, and I feel like you need a degree in law to understand the simplest things. I've also come to see and realise how completely broken our justice and court systems are. It's been a real eye opener in many ways.

It's a waiting game for us now. In a lot of ways, my life has been largely ruined by this happening. In other ways, I've learned so much about coping, about truth, about the importance of good friends, about unconditional love. Life isn't and won't be easy from here on out, but we've got this far.

Your life isn't ruined love, may be different but not ruined. As we get older we adapt over time and one day this will all be a distant memory. Xx

Ataloss, Mandymoo is right, your life is not ruined. But it has been turned upside down. Or more like broken into pieces and thrown up into the air. You have to wait for all the pieces to land and then try and fit them all back together again. It will take a bit of time and for most of us it will never be the same again.

Thanks for replying ladies. You're right, I know; it seems like the most crushing thing when it's happening. I find being outside in nature really helps. Looking around at the vastness of a river or mountain and realising how small we all are, how massive the world is. Perspective can be lost in these situations.

Before being thrown into this situation, I would've reacted the same as anyone else who saw a name they recognised in the paper or online. But now, all I think of is that person's family: their partners, kids, parents, sisters. We are victims too and it's frustrating that it's not recognised.

You're all so strong and it's an inspiration.
