Hi,
I'm hoping someone can give me some hope.
My dad was arrested last week for accessing 2 iioc on a single date last year. They have no information regarding the actual images.
I know most family members will find this kind of thing shocking but my dad is a particularly moralistic person who would be sickened at the thought of this. He is a good man and his career involved the protection of children which he took very seriously. He actually retired early as he felt a decision being made by the organisation put a child in danger. The fact the incident is isolated also suggests it was accidental.
Furthermore, he is intelligent and tech savvy. Even if he did have such tendencies, I know he wouldn't take the risk.
He has already tried to kill himself and is now in critical care as we speak. This accusation will have devastated him and he was already depressed. His suicide note stated that the accusation is false.
I was looking for some hope. The police say his devices will be returned in about two weeks. Does this mean he may be cleared at this stage? Are there many stories of people getting the knock then being cleared?

Hey nd,
I'm so sorry you are going through this. Unfortunately, the majority of people who make it to this forum don't tend to have stories of being found innocent or NFA (No Further Action) BUT they do happen and it can happen. I completely understand the impact this has on both your Dad and your family, it's like a nightmare. It does normally take months for forensics on devices to be done so the 2 week estimate seems very odd but perhaps due to the situation the OIC might be able to pull some strings? All I can say is that there are people who are innocent mixed up in this and there are also people who say they are innocent but the investigation shows otherwise - I'm absolutely not saying the latter will be the case but leave a small space in your brain for that scenario to be possible. Normally once forensics are done, if nothing is found then he will be given an NFA and that is the end of it. My case is communication so slightly different but my partner protested his innocence from the start and 9 months passed with me believing him but maintaining a doubt just in case. Look after yourself and call the helpline if you need support, this is a lot to deal with xx
