Hello Bluebellblue,
I'm so sorry that you have found yourself here, but you have found a good place for support and advice. There are quite a few mums here sadly, with sons of different ages.
The important thing is that he is honest with you and uses this time to try to understand what he has done. Unfortunately, accessing porn can very easily lead to iioc offences, as well as extreme pornography offences and possession of illegal images of children, which is slightly different from iioc.
There is a lot of help on the Stop It Now site, which it is well worth looking at even if he believes he hasn't done anything wrong. The legislation in this area is a minefield and it is very easy to stray from legal to illegal. There is also an organisation called Safer Lives that can help.
Is he released on bail or RUI? Unfortunately, the timescale for investigation of these offences can be horrendously long.
You also need to look after yourself so you can be there for your son and the rest of your family. I will not deny that it is a horrendous place to be and there will be a lot of ups and downs on the road, but you all can and will get through it but it is important to be open and honest with each other. We find strength that we did not know we had.
I'm sure some of the other ladies will post more useful information and help support you but also read the pinned posts at the start of this section as they contain a lot of guidance. Hugs to you.
