Hi Everyone, not posted for a while but have been reading posts everyday. The time has come, the OIC called me last week to say that my Son is being charged, altogether just under 1000 images including 28 videos 25 of those in Cat A. Charges in post yesterday morning appearing in Magastrates in a few weeks time all happening very quickly. When OIC spoke to me she said all 3 categories I thought she meant 3 images I feel absolutely devastated there are so many images. He has been attending SAA meetings every week and is also in the middle of doing the inform course. I will be calling the solicitor tomorrow morning and getting into action. I feel sick about it all, not sleeping etc.
How long will it be for social services to get in touch, they had previously closed the case. Shall I tell the school as I have a younger child, the school have been so supportive.
What else can I or should I do. My Son has Autism and I am afraid for him. Thanks for reading just needed to share...also the charges are for making as well, as much as I love my Son I feel so angry with him.

Thanks so much Lee. What do you think will happen with the SS, there was nothing related to my daughter on the images, however, it's just so painful to think that he has been looking at those images. I do know that he has made a terrible mistake and has got himself drawn in to what I can only describe as demonic.
I am a firm believer in the 12 step programme and I am Praying that it's going to work for him, sorry just babbling now I'm all out of sorts, terrified it's going to be in the Media and we will have to move etc. X

Hi Quand
After reading your post and Lee's reply, I agree it is so important for you to start gathering up mitigating factors to support your son's case.
It may be good to start putting a character reference together. As your son has autism it is so important that it is documented how autism affects him on a daily basis. It would also be good to find his original diagnosis letter and any other professional documentation that supports his diagnosis and how it impacts on him.
Information you may wish to include in your Character Reference:-
1. Your son's personal qualities for example, if he is kind natured, sensitive, hard working, not street wise etc
2. What he is currently doing - is he working, studying, volunteering etc.
3.He has a diagnosis of Autism, the age he was diagnosed. How this affects him on a daily basis, like is he socially isolated, socially naive, has anxiety, trusts people etc.
4.You are aware of the seriousness of the crime and how your son has been since the knock - the remorse he has shown, the effect on his mental health and how it has affected him and the family.
Do not say anything about how you think what sentencing your son should get. This is very frowned upon.
Do you also have anyone else who could do a character reference for him, who knows your son well?
If I think of anything else I will post again.
Thinking of you and your son.

Alison and Lee thank you both so much, it's very much appreciated. This site has been my lifesaver. He is finding it hard to get a sponsor, I know that he has definitely asked a few people for help but everyone seems busy or they are new members, he has been reading the book and is attending the meetings every week for months now. Yes I will get my thinking cap on regarding the character reference and I can get other people to write one for him also. I got some sleeping tablets today and I do have support from a couple of good friends, one of them is going to attend court with us. The solicitor when I spoke to him on Friday seems very much on the ball so that's reassuring.
Once again thanks so much, my head is spinning like a washing machine, will he be able to live with us, is he going to prison etc etc.
I will post again tomorrow after I have spoken to the solicitor. X
