Money is tight ...and my partner wants a second job to help pay towards his family court case.

He has seen a few Xmas temp jobs and so told me today he wants a second job. He is lucky in my opinion he has a full time 'professional' job already.

I looked at him and just said 'your conviction is going to make that near impossible', and it was like he forgot....

We had a brief look and most ask about convictions- this is retail and delivery jobs. He then thought he could get around it if he applied direct in store with his CV. He doesn't believe me that 9 out of 10 chain retail store will just apply online.

I have considered getting a second job, bit that won't really benefit him. As I won't be paying for his court case, unless he pays me back.

Is there anything else he could do to bring in more cash? We can still look for him to get a second job, but I'm worried that it will be a strain as he works 37 hours a week already. Also even tho money is tight, I don't think he is worthy of a temp job when he earns full time wage at 30k a year. Money is only tight because of the court case.

Has he thought of representing himself? My person did and it turned out great, went in his favour, the judge respected what he did there tones of books on how to do it and how to conduct yourself in court.

Hi,

Have you looked up the ban the box employers? When I Last looked it up it had quite a few employers on there. You'll find information about it on the unlock website.

Hope this helps,

He may struggle with retail, he will come into contact with many 16-18 year olds.

Thanks everyone for the advice. Shall check out the box suggestion and revisit unlocked. I did see that asda didnt ask. My partner will likely let his police liaison know in advance to make sure they ok with it. He has a no contact condition for under 16s so retail might be tricky

I will aslo suggest to him he reads up on representing himself. He is doing the family court without solicitors but he has already had to pay 2.5k for an assessment which has been pretty thrown back in his face as not being suitable and he will likely need to do another. So no idea on the costs and that is what is concerning him.

Newlady, was the family court to get visitation rights? I would be interested to see how they went. My partner's ex doesn't want him to have any access.

Yes, it was family Court but was before knock. He's another fight there later after sentencing. When he started dating me years ago, she put a stop to him seeing the kids so he went to court. He won access every other weekend which was what he wanted as they live about 200 miles away. Think it will be a long time b4 he has unsupervised even though they are pre teen now. Tell him to take one fight at a time, one day at a time. Read as much information and books he can on family law and always keep his cool with direct answers to direct questions,,

Think the whole case which went on a whole, cost him £75 for petation about 30 for books etc.
