Hi

This is a real long shot but does anyone have any idea how to delete social media accounts once the passwords have been forgotten. My autistic son's devices were seized so trying to log on from another device seems impossible when he can't remember the password or his email login for AOL.

I've tried everything but unless he can get into his account he cannot get permanently delete anything.

many thanks for anything you can offer . It's just another massive source of stress which I am finding increasingly difficult to manage x

There are normally ways to recover an account, these avenues are mostly used when account have been hacked and emails changed so the recover email can't be used.

If you search the social media and "account recovery" or "account hacked recovery" it should bring up some pages. It will be a longer winded process but they should be able to help. It might be best to try this with AOL first so you don't have to go through the process for every account.

Try reaching out to them this way.

Explain you don't know the password and you don't have access to the phone.

I did email aol and basically they said they couldn't help as he cannot reset his aol password as he is now using his new phone . It feels such a mess and more unnecessary stress.

I'll give them another go and stress his vulnerability

Thank you so much Sal x

That's disappointing.

If you can't get AOL reset would be to contact the individual social media accounts. I think it's quite a long winded process but possible to recover. It will be the same process as if he'd been hacked.

I've tried Facebook support but no answer/reply at all. Don't suppose you have contact details?

thank you so much x

Try following these steps.

I just followed them, the end bit is slightly different now but the process is still the same.
