I know a few folks here have had experiences with vigilantes. How did you deal with them? The sentencing is coming up and the posts are going up about it thick and fast. Neighbours tagging and commenting. Kids still living at home with the accused and his partner and we're so worried that someone will do something to their home. Surely they wouldn't with kids there? It's just such a huge added complication and worry.
They've done what they wanted to do. Do they ever leave you alone? Can you do anything about it?
Feel helpless.

Hi,

Please keep records of everything, even stuff online.

Report every incidence to 101, even minor ones and it would help if they had a ring doorbell too.

Are you a family member or friend of the family?

Just having your support can help alot.

If things get really bad you can buy blink CCTV cameras, that will deter alot of people.

I can't stress enough though to report every incident to the police.

We're not at that stage yet but I'm sure they'll soon get bored and move on to the next person. As bluebell said, report any incidents. Most are keyboard warriors only.

I'm family yeah. It's just such a worry for all of us. I'm also concerned about the knock on effect for associated family members. Why do they want to do this to people? I just can't get my head around it. Once they've done their 'job' - why can't they just walk away?

does anyone who's dealt with them have any advice for months/years down the line? Have you had any issues going forward or do they get bored and move onto their next victims?

Sadly we are 2 years down the line & are still having issues.

I had my son 2 days after sentancing.

We have CCTV installed to be on the safe side and this acts as a good deterrant for vandelism.

My advice would be to always report everything, even comments online.

I refused to be bullied so I held my head high and reported everything to the police

They don't expect you to fight back.

I'm hoping we are now going to have a bit of closure as one of the main perpetrators has just received a warning for malicious communication.
