Looking at the flood of messages about fake documents this afternoon, please could admin look into setting up a verification process for new members. Just asking a few questions about the person looking to join or verifying their email address might help.

I don’t post often and when I see an intrusion on the forum like this afternoon, it makes me nervous about posting at all.

I know a simple verification process wouldn’t be enough to put off the most determined but it might put off chancers or journalists, as we’ve had before.

Josephine I completely agree.

I know some of users are nervous to open up, and these fake messages could really put people off. It’s such a stigmatising offence we really need a safe space to support each other Survive this.

Its an open forum that everyone can read too, so while I trust people will only seek out support if they genuinely need it.

we do need to feel safe especially when sharing our personal experiences.

I also think it should be more closed . The stops so have a forum though what puts me off that is people use their own Email addresses. I also am having difficulty at work but reluctant to ask direct questions because of the open nature of the forum and my hr person knows I named this as something that supported me. I would hate her to look. Though I am sure she wouldn’t. That’s the thing with this offence it’s very difficult not to feel paranoid. I am separated from my husband it I get the impression everyone thinks I must have known and I am somewhat implicated. If the general public find out who my husband is it will impact them.again I am probably paranoid.

Poster is right about the personal accounts they can start people knowing that they are not alone. I could also do an account on how helpful the forum is. To encourage them to come see.

I know people would feel better if it was closed.

Dear all,

Thank you for your feedback and comments. Firstly, we would like to apologise that this has happened as it clearly breaches our forum agreement. Subsequently, we have removed all of the posts from the forum, deleted this user’s registration and are currently reviewing further options in regards to this.

We want to ensure that this forum is a space where you feel safe to provide and receive support from each other, and we are sorry if these particular posts have hindered that for you. We continue to take your feedback and comments on board and are regularly reviewing the forum to ensure that this is what the forum delivers for you.

Following on from this, we have received a request from a user to delete their own registration and posts from the forum as they no longer wish to use it. If this is something you would like to do, then please contact us on forum@lucyfaithfull.org.uk with the username that you have signed up with. If you have already made this request through other means, such as our reporting feature, please repeat it with the email address above.

If you do have any concerns or wish to discuss this further, please do contact us on our Stop it Now! Helpline where our trained operators will be happy to help.

Best wishes,

Lucy

Hi, I have just found out about this group and have just joined this is my first post. I have been using the stopso family forum for a number of years and have found it to be a great source of support. I created an email address which I used for the stopso family forum to seperate it from my 'normal' life. I'm not sure about this one being public but all support is really welcome at the moment. just wanted to say hello. Julia

I’ve been offline for a few days and sometimes don’t feel I want to or can post on here. It’s a positive thing but sometimes I feel like I’m going down a rabbit hole again, sometimes it’s easier to try to forget. But I’m away for a few days and what have I missed???

Hi Jaded

Someone posted a load of adverts can't remember what for, passports I think. It was on every post and just made people a little nervous about anyone looking and commenting on the forum.

Glad you have managed to have a few days away xx
