I meant to share this a while ago but forgot about it until now. We all see how easy it is to end up on this road yet it seems like nobody wants to share the devastating consequences of breaking the law or offer support BEFORE offending happens so here is some good news....

Pornhub (one of the biggest porn platforms) have teamed up with Stop It Now! to warn users of their actions and direct them to support should they search for any flagged terms or words involving minors. I would love to try it out to see it in practice but I'm sure you can all understand how this journey has absolutely terrified me in regards to internet activity so I will absolutely not be doing that. I think this is a really good move and will hopefully send a shock to users as well as help them to acknowledge they may need to seek support.

Now we need the government to take action against the amount of iioc on our internet, a nationwide campaign showing BOTH sides of the victim/offender repurcussions, society to realise this is a huge problem that isn't just reserved for p words and the justice system to reform how some of these things are dealt with. Small steps but in the right direction!

Wow! I'm so pleased to see this.

I'd often wondered why this hadn't been done, it's a great move. The forum my person was on is one of the biggest and there are some very questionable topics and groups and I do wonder why these aren't flagged or support sign posted - I am almost tempted to create a profile myself to use for sign posting them to help.

So I actually just looked.

The warning works for explicit search terms, so good to know it works.

I work in tech and marketing. So much more could be done.

SAL,

Absolutely agree more needs to be done and it's amazing you would do that to try to help. There needs to be things in place to look at things like that which could lead on to offending and offer education or a stern warning rather than just dealing with the offence once it has occurred - and we know sometimes the offence is out of ignorance or the need for support from abuse they suffered as a child.

I'm glad you checked it, I'm honestly so conscious of doing anything anymore, I won't even look at that website where I used to occasionally and nobody is allowed my wifi password. It is shocking that things like that are allowed as it's feeding into fantasy which I think should be unacceptable in today's society. Considering the whole belief that internet offending leads to contact offences (which we know isn't always true) then schoolgirl, teen and step-sibling material should be totally done away with. The last time I went on that website I recall scrolling and seeing lots of "teen" "petite teen" etc on the homepage (suggesting popularity) and was quite disgusted as it's understandable some preferred body types may be petite but the "bait" of using teen in the title as a selling point is alarming. I remember the title "barely legal" being popular years ago. All material should consist of age appropriate adults (21+ I think) and ages shouldn't even be referenced because it's a totally unnecessary factor - or it should be!

Thank you for this

I have been a participant in some areas of the LFF

And completed a recent video launch on offenders,

It is so important to be able to be a part of this as for me this needs to be out there to raise awareness not only for the victims but also the offenders and what can happen

The more we talk about this then maybe we can save one or more families from this journey

xx

Dear Forum users,

We at Lucy Faithfull strongly advise against anyone searching for terms that you believe may lead to topics surrounding child sexual abuse materials.

We know that you want to understand what may have led loved ones to access illegal material, and this is understandable. However, by doing this you are putting yourselves at risk of accidentally seeing these images. You are also at risk of accidentally downloading illegal materials which I am sure is not your intention.

We are very pleased to see that many of you understand the importance of our new splash page with Pornhub. Keep your eyes peeled for more work in this and other deterrence areas.

Kind regards,

The Forum Team

Bluebellblue raises a good point. Surely these companies that host these videos should be prosecuted for sharing? If they can't control and validate the age of people in the videos they host, they shouldn't be hosting them.

Feeling pretty foolish and a bit sick for searching. Despite all of these months on this forum, my natural instinct is to believe this stuff is only on the dark web.

Well done LFF for making this step and I look forward to seeing others. This really is such a horrible subject and being on this forum in someway normalises (not sure that's the right word but I think people might understand) the crime and the subject a bit and that's hit home a bit with what I did today.

I think so too! I recently saw a group of high school girls ran a campaign requesting for school girl type lingerie dress ups to be removed from retailers (was on ITV news a few months ago) and it was very well received. I've actually just had a browse through Ann Summers and they don't stock it so that's good. If those businesses can take notice of these problematic things that have been oddly normalised then maybe we need legislation now to police how these websites describe and glorify content which is problematic if the websites themselves won't.

I wouldn't worry SAL, I'm glad we could see how it works. But yes, anywhere else and anyone else I would absolutely NOT Google anything or look for anything at all. I look forward to seeing what else is to come from LFF and hope that once my ordeal is over I will be able to use my social media to help educate around these topics.
