My fiancée has been convicted of having child pornography on his personal device. I am staying with him and we are working on getting him the help he needed.

We are wondering if his criminal record will stop me from getting a job in the future. I'm planning to work in the museum and public history sector. Not a job always working directly with kids but it can have moments where I would have to. I have no priors or anything myself.

I'm also American and we were planning to get a family visa so I could stay in the UK once were married and didn't know if his record would keep me from getting a visa.

Hey Nickat512,

I wouldn't think it would stop you from getting a job in that line of work, I believe it is discretion which results in a partner's conviction being noted on your CRB but the Unlock charity would be able to answer that question better.

I'm not sure about the visa part I'll be honest, I'm not sure what the criteria is so might be worth perhaps trying to get a free consult with an immigration lawyer.

Apologies, I couldn't be more helpful but it's better to get properly sourced information that guessing. I hope it all goes well for you x
