I'm seeking advice as I've had a terrible day. The first thing I'm seeking is book recommendations by anybody going through this.
the other is (and maybe the book recommendations will help) a really reliable way to stop obsessing and going mad.

Your brain on porn

and Paula Hall - sex addiction 'the partners perspective' (the newest version as that deals with internet porn apparently).

these 2 books were recommended by my counsellor.

as for the second bit I think this horrible journey sends us all a bit mad. Deal with it however it works for you, look after yourself, a bit of you time, meditation, breathing exercises, exercises, therapy ... try them all and remember how amazing and strong you are x

Take time out. Come off the forem do something for you for a few days that you enjoy. I got meds and counselling which really helped. See a friend, even if they know nothing talking and gossiping with a mate really helps takes your mind off things xx

I'm sorry you're struggling with the intrusive thoughts they really are awful. I've found medication has calmed mine but only at the second higher dose. My initial distraction was to sing a song in my head or repeat a mantra to myself. I'm learning to accept that some things are out of my control. These things are not worth my energy. xx

Thanks Life,

I have a review appointment with my gp next week. She has mentioned upping my meds so maybe I need to consider this. Mantras and music I will bear in mind. I did say in reply to another member of the forum a few days ago that I try to focus on things I can control rather than things I can't. But sometimes my brain won't cooperate!!
