OIC has sent my OH evidence to CPS several weeks ago. But heard nothing since. I really thought we would of heard something by now, I'm praying this could be over before Christmas and he can return home, our situation is a bit different, 4 WhatsApp videos from a group chat that he said were sent as jokes/banter, but the OIC thought they made the threshold to be charged, 2 Cat A 1 Cat B 1 Cat C. In his opinion. Just so fed up with this whole thing and how it's affecting our family x
My OH's case went to CPS first week of Aug and he was charged yesterday. We heard nothing in between.
Wow, that long. His bail is until 28th December I was hoping it would be done by then, but maybe that's just wishful thinking, so do they have to apply for a bail extension if CPS haven't made a decision by then? My Solicitor has told us nothing.
My OH was only bailed once and then released under investigation. RuI has no time frame.
My partner had some images in the same kind of manner - sent to him unsolicited as a "joke" in a mates Whatsapp group. I think they were classed as extreme but I think they tried to categorise one of them as Cat A - I've seen the video as it was a viral video on Instagram not that long ago so it's defo NOT Cat A as it doesn't flipping show anything. They haven't charged him with any of the images - he has charges for communication unfortunately. If you do get charges make sure your solicitor questions and pushes against them because sometimes they go over the top categorising things and when you question them they back down.
Hi BaffledB
Yeah we will definitely challenge them if it comes to it, I have also seen the video that my OH had on his phone I'll be honest it's in poor taste and not something any of my friends would send, but I'm aware blokes send these daft videos around all the time without realising the implications. I just hope some common sense prevails in the end, but who knows

It's very sticky ground when it comes to these things because obviously illegal is illegal but the Police and the CPS should be using common sense to distinguish the ones which are "banter" and which are serious and need to be addressed as well as categorising them properly. It has to be in the public interest. I think the public would be interested to know EXACTLY how some of these things go down and how much money is being wasted chasing after piffly little convictions for cases which didn't require it.
100% agree with you
