Counselling services for the children

I have not told my daughter the whole truth as she is too young but she is already very distressed by the sudden departure of her dad from our family home and the restricted contact.
What counselling services are available for children? Did you go through your GP or CAMHS? I’m dealing with all the fallout both practically and emotionally and I want to ensure that all my children get the help they need. Will Social services advise me? They are coming to visit on Friday.

My daughter was initially very shocked and upset when Daddy left and then after a few weeks, I had to tell her he would never live with us again - all other details I have kept from her due to her age. Have you spoken with your childs school? Or your Dr? My daughters school, whom I did not contact until Social Services had been in touch, have been brilliant and very supportive and in hindsight, I wish I had contacted them sooner, you are only a few days in if I remember correctly - I didn't contact school until nearly 2 weeks in. Her teacher doesn't know the full extent of what has happened other than her parents are getting divorced. The safeguarding officer, who herself is a teacher, was obviously contacted by Social Services and she did not pry into the full details - Socials Services advised they would leave it up to me on what I did and didn't tell them. I only disclosed details to them as my daughter had witnessed the police arrive on the day it all happened and so I felt I needed to be honest and open in case she mentioned this at a later date. Either your childs school or the Dr's may be able to recommend a counsellor too. I hope this helps.
