I've just had a call from the social worker to ask to come and speak to me. She said there's a section 47 and currently no contact.

can anyone help with what to expect from first visit?

OH is remanded in custody for his own safety, awaiting sentencing. It's my daughters 10th birthday this week and she is struggling to understand why she can't even speak to him.

id have thought this would be low risk if the call could be supervised both ends.

cureently the kids think he is mentally unwell (he is and has been before) and is somewhere safe where he is working on getting better so he can see us again. He was only arrested 10th Nov so everything is still new but sentencing is 5th December (though likely to be pushed back)

any advice? Thank you

Hi...

Can I just emphasize that ANY Social Worker contact or visits is purely VOLUNTARY.

Yes they can threaten you with Sec 47, CiN and Child Protection remits but all of these are voluntary and cannot be imposed.

Finally they could begin court proceedings against you however if they do you are AUTOMATICALY given access (Free) to an Advocate/Legal representative who will be present during any meetings prior to the case being heard by a judge....

If they even get that far ...

Do not let fear get in the way of what you think is best for your life and family.
