My person is in a hostel will a lot of ex prisoners, if I'm honest, it's probably true, most of these guys are addicts and just live for next benefit to get another drink /drug etc. But I honestly believe there is help out there if you search and want to build a better life after prison. I think family /friend support is really important and if your son wants to have a good life he will do so if he's determined, plus he's you, your a wonderful mother, he's lucky xx

I have very limited experience but through this journey I'm aware do 2 men who've finished serving their time in prison/ very imminently to be releases. One was given a house to live in and from what I understand he did very little proactive things to make this happen, but it happened - He had no one on the outside. The other does have someone but is being moved to a hostel on release. My person has seen a few people leave, some having served long sentences, they have been supported.
I do think that if you engage with PO before leaving and seek the support and help from charities leasing up to your release then there is help out there. I do think there will be an element of luck of the draw depending on where they are in prison and what part of the country they will be released to, but there is help, it might not be an easy journey but there is help and support.
It just be very worrying for you, from what you've explained of your situation. But you will be able to help him, even if its just researching charities for him to contact in readiness and upon release.

I have the same concerns for my son but I try not.to think about it as we have a long journey ahead xx
Our offenders will carry this with them.for the rest of there lives unfortunately and until society can understand more they will always be classed as the worst offenders possible but we on here know that is just not true yes they have done wrong but this does not define them
