Hi everyone, just need a bit of advice. In October we got the knock at the door for my partner. Police said this could take anywhere up to a year. They also said they will be in touch in January to see if he gets charged but most likely he will be bailed again. If he does get charged will it be in the media ? My biggest fear is that. They said they already found enough evidence to arrest him. My partner has said he's not sure what he's downloaded as it's bulk videos from dw. He also said he downloaded loads but has only seen a handful. When will we find out what has actually been downloaded? Will they know if he's actually watched it and will that matter in court? Terrified he will go to prison and just not sure how to feel I love him but can't understand or get my head around what he's done! Thankyou

Dear Carol3,
I am very sorry that you are going through this right now. I can only bring you comfort in this difficult time by wishing you well and sharing what my experience was last year when I had the knock in Oct 2021.
As Daffidol said: each case is somehow unique but by telling you what I have gone through might help you. Just take each day at a time as it is a long process and Lucy Faithful telephone line for family affected by the knock is helpful and support from the samaritans helpline can help too. I have had low cost counselling sessions for the last 6 months as I wasn't able to get some counselling on the nhs. I am still getting face to face counselling for another 2 months as it helps me a lot to talk about my fears, my worries and family issues in relation with what's happened to my person and myself.
My person's story is somehow similar to your person's story as my person downloaded thousands of movies but did only watch 5 or 6 of them. So they know how many were watched and how many times they were watched too as the judge said one film was seen twice.
I am very sorry that you are going through this. The CPS said in very graphic details what my person watched and it was horrific to listen to all the details and to go through each one of them in court.
I cried and wanted the floor to swallow me but I had to remain strong as my person was in pieces, not knowing what his sentence was going to be... At this stage he knew he was going to prison, short sentence but enough to change his life for ever. He had a short sentence but has a criminal record which affect his work balance and job choices.
Sending best wishes and blessings to all.

Thankyou everyone for the support. It's been a few months now and still in shock and can't get my head around it...
