Broke it down into individual moments where we had to put a face on and front up. This was excluding our son. He didn't open his gifts yesterday. He's barely seen anybody. It's been horrendous but all socialising is now over so I can just stay in bed if I want to.

I promise Loulou - you will see glimmers of light (it might not seem like it right now) and I so understand your sadness, but it will happen and these desperate feelings will ease and strength will take over.

Loulou, like the others have said, you WILL get through this - I'm sure it feels impossible at the moment but it will get better. Last Christmas, I hated my son with a passion and was contemplating cutting him out of my life; this Christmas we're close and have had a fabulous few days and a lot of laughs. I honestly didn't think this would ever be possible.

I think it's very early days for you so please come and chat on this forum, it's a lifeline. Also, look after your own physical and mental wellbeing - all that 'can't pour from an empty cup' stuff is cliched but true. Exercise worked for me, and I go to sleep with a meditation podcast in my ear to stop my brain exploding.

Huge virtual hugs xx
