The prison my OH is at has decided to ban all incoming letters (apart from legal) indefinitely due to staff shortages. The only way to communicate is now via email a prisoner. I can't believe they can do this! I am fuming but not sure what we can do! Prisoners can send letters out but I can now only email in! The email a prisoner service is so much more expensive and half the time the emails don't even get delivered or they're missing pages!

Hi Lucy22

Unfortunately the prison can deem there own rules even though it is so unfair

I diddnt think it was possible but due to the staff shortages they can do pretty much as they like

You could ask your person to raise this with the prison ombismon but could take time like everything does in prison

That sounds very harsh but as Upset said each prison seems to have their own rules. My son said handwritten letters take longer as they have to go through a whole lot of security - same with parcels. My son recently waited 7 weeks for a parcel I sent in..... and that wait had nothing to do with the strike!

I recently took on board the email system, find it works well and cheaper than stamps.
