My father was targeted by a group pretending to be underage child. My father is 70+ suffering with long term depression and on medication. So, he was arrested and released under investigation, this was for sexual communication with underage. This was 9 months ago. He was called in again for an interview for images they found on his mobile, couple of category A & B and some C.

He does not know about the pictures. We have been told by the police officer in charge that they will be charging him in few weeks as they have got enough evidence.

This has been devasting for the family. I live separate with my wife and child in the same city. At the time of the arrest my wife and child (under 2) were out of the country.

We are worried about the impact of CS and SS will have on our and my child life.

I would like to know when do CS come to me and my wife, and how will it affect us?

Will me and my wife be under investigation?

Will we have to go through risk assessment? How long does this take and what does it involve?

Does this all happen after he has been charged in court or when the police charge him?

When will social services get involved?

Sorry you find yourself here, it must be a confusing time.

In regards to you, your wife and child as long as none of them activity relates to your child you won't be under investigation (I think you'd know by now if there was anything to be concerned of on this front, so sorry if that alarms you) .

SS may be in contact if you want your child and your father to have a relationship, I understand that SS will want to know you and your wife understand that charges and the risks and can appropriately safeguard your child around your father.

CS and SS only tend to be heavily involved if the offender is a parent and or lives/lived with the child.
